When & Why I Purchased A Honda Integra Type R
I have a large history of cars, 95% of which have been high performance sports/performance cars.
My Cars have varied from an Escort RS Turbo to an R33 GTR Skyline including various cars
such as Pulsar GTIR's & a Mitsubishi EVO 6 GSR.
So why did I buy my Honda Integra Type R ???
For a number of reasons actually, I was looking for a car that can offer all of the following:
Power
Power to weight ratio
BHP per ton
Handling - its been said/proven to be the best Front wheel drive car in the world for handling...
Reliability
Recaro Bucket seats
Looks the car has & Gets from others who do & DONT know what it is :-)
Its Rare (unlike Evo's & Scoobies etc)
Room inside
Ease of driving with both normal & fun drives
Fuel consumption for a performance car (its great)
Oh & not to forget the look on Evo & Scoobie owners faces when they cant loose you or even keep up with you in the Teg in the country lanes & twisty bits of roads :-)
I think the Teg is an amazing all round car which is hard find, lots of fun to drive and a very forgiving car.
When I purchased my 1996 Spec Honda Integra Type R the car was a fresh import.
The car was purchased & chosen by hand by Lewis who I bought the car off of & was a Grade 4 Import with only 1 previous owner in Japan (this is also confirmed on the auction sheet). The car was still reading in KPH & there were a few minor things that needed to be carried out in order to get the car into the condition that I would be happy with, these were as follows:
Carry out the MPH conversion on the car
Full service (the car had proof of a service just before I bought it) I like to get all my cars serviced regularly)
Refurbish the wheels
Replace or repair the steering wheel (the car had been sitting in Japan & the sun damaged the steering wheel)
Get a few minor stone chips out of the bumpers
Get a few minor/very small parking dents out of the doors
As a whole this car was & always will be a very good clean example of a 96spec Integra Type R & I am proud to be the owner of the car.
Technically speaking the car has only ever had 2 real owners the original owner in Japan & myself as Lewis only had the car on the road for 3 weeks as the rest of the time from when he purchased it from auction personally in Japan the car was in transit to the UK & was sold due to personal reasons & a change in circumstances.
